PROTECT YOUR DROP-OUTS!

Deck-Ends are Cylindrical/Round Pegs spec’d for TDI Deck Compatibility and are 1 of 3 parts that incorporates Flush Mount Technology by PROTO; the other Two parts being the Drop-Out shape of the TDI Deck itself and our UFO Wheel Adapters. Together they streamline and support the entire rear-end of the Scooter for high impact grinding. Development began in 2009. Scooter Decks of this era were very narrow so to get a wider grind, Pegs were the only option. The rear-end of all Decks were cut “Fastback” or “Park” style and the only Peg option was Conical/Cone shaped Pegs to fit inside the extrusion to reach the Drop-Out but provided very little Axle support. Chema Cardenas requested BMX-Style Cylindrical Pegs to reduce his Axle bending then it was time to reimagine what the back of a Scooter Deck should look like to accommodate this new Peg Standard. The Orion 2, in 2014, was the first Scooter Deck to feature Cylindrical Pegs and we never looked back. Still, some riders refused to ride “Pegs” and considered it “cheating”. At that time, Zack Martin began cutting down our original longer Pegs so they were flush with the edge of the Deck and no longer resembled a protruding Peg. After much deliberation, we decided they needed a special name that implied that they served a different purpose than generic Pegs and were part of a System that actually saved your Axles and Drop-Outs. Up until that point, no one had integrated an “End” to a Deck so we agreed that the new Product Name for PROTO Pegs would be “Deck-Ends”; then riders’ hesitancy quickly diminished.

Now Decks are wider than our old Pegs ever were…and a new Standard was born.

PROTO TDI™ DEX™ are the world’s first decks to feature Flush Mount Technology™. FMtech™ allows you to trash your old “cone” shaped pegs which are notorious for bending axles and being incompatible with wider decks and allows you to start using straight Cylindrical Pegs and PROTO Deck-Ends™ which provide superior reinforcement all the way to your Drop-Outs. With Flush Mount Technology, the Peg/Deck-End™ Diameter is now standardized so the Drop-Outs of the deck can perfectly contoured to fit your Pegs and Deck-Ends™ which allows the full width of your deck extrusion to provide an additional level of support for Drop-Out impact.
